When you see the name of this new product you wonder: "What is it?” The answer is as simple as deciphering the name: It is a "quick” way to "band” (or wrap-up), something "it”. This product replaces dangerous, hook equipped, bungie or plastic ball-style stretch cords.
You may wonder: Why use a Kwik Bandit? Safety, ease of use and longevity are among the reasons I’d give. These wraps have no open hooks or hard plastic balls, which can inflict injuries, especially if the elastic cord is tightly stretched or worn out. Those bungie cords store kinetic energy that is released when unwrapped, sometimes in unexpected ways, if control is lost. In fact, the woman that invented this product, lost sight in an eye due to an errant hook that struck her, causing irreparable and severe damage to her eye. She lost vision in that eye! Apparently, this injury is more common that most of us are aware of.
The Kwik Bandit is easy to use: Simply stretch it out, wrap it around the item you want to secure and lock one of the balls along its length into the pocket on the other end. "Stretch, Wrap, Lock.” What could be easier?
Here is a YouTube video that shows you how to use it: https://youtu.be/rHCXk7rHtVU
The longevity comes from the rubber material which is specialized EPDM rubber. It will secure 75 lbs. (34kg). A conventional bungie cord stores considerable kinetic energy when it is stretched. Combine this with the fact that it is cotton cloth covering strands of rubber that break as they age, and you have a potentially dangerous weapon. Kwik Bandit’s require just a little stretch to allow them to be locked onto the locking portion, almost like an elastic band. Soft, safe rubber requiring very little stretch mean these wraps will not injure you, while securing the object. They are always the right length since there are securing balls along their length. Larger versions can be secured to a wall or tray to secure one end and some come with a locking pin to ensure the ball lock stays in place. The rubber is fuel, salt, water and most chemical safe, as well as UV stable, which means there should be virtually no degradation over time.
Kick Bandit’s come in various lengths from 8” and increase in diameter as the length grows. RV Parts Plus has assembled a Kwik Bandit Starter Kit which includes:
The Mini ones are ideal for elastic band replacements for securing small cords and short water hoses. The Standard length are ideal for 25-50 foot (7.6 to 15.2m), water hoses and electrical cords and awning ropes on trailers. The Heavy Duty are for securing larger cords, hoses or where extra strength is needed. With their design, you can link similar diameter Kwik Bandit units together to provide longer ties. Try a kit and you will be amazed at how many places you will be able to use them.
